On January 6, the committee cancels the Trump subpoena
The withdrawal of the subpoena for former President Donald Trump by the House select committee on January 6 prompted a victory lap from his attorney and the former commander-in-chief himself.
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the chairman of the panels, said in a letter to Trump’s lawyers that the committee is no longer pursuing the October subpoena for the former president’s testimony and documents regarding the Capitol incident on January 6, 2021.
Considering the impending finish of our examination, the Select Board of trustees can never again seek after the particular data covered by the subpoena, Thompson wrote in the Dec. 28 letter, which came after the council finished up its work last week and delivered its last report.
Thompson went on to say that as a result, “I hereby formally withdraw the subpoena issued to former President Trump” and “notify you that he is no longer obligated to comply or produce records in response to said subpoena,” as a result of this letter. ”
Harmeet Dhillon, an attorney Trump hired after being subpoenaed, waved the white flag in celebration of the panel’s decision to withdraw the subpoena.
Dhillon stated in a social media message early on Thursday that the committee waved the white flag and withdrew the subpoena after my firm filed suit on separation of powers grounds to block the January 6 House Select Committee’s illegitimate subpoena to President Trump over his activities while president.
Given precedent and the refusal of previous presidents to testify before Congress, she added, “We were confident of victory in court.” The J6 committee squandered a lot of money on a purely political witch hunt, a complete misuse of procedure and authority that served no legitimate legislative purpose. I Did Nothing Wrong Trump also addressed the cancellation in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump wrote, “Just been informed that the Unselect Committee of political Thugs has withdrawn the Subpoena of me regarding the January 6 Protest of the CROOKED 2020 Presidential Election.”
They probably did so either because they were about to lose in court or because they were aware that I did nothing wrong. Their decision may have been influenced by the FBI’s role in rigging the election. Regardless, the Subpoena has expired! He continued.
The explosive Twitter Files revelations suggest that the FBI attempted to discredit leaked information about Hunter Biden’s laptop in advance of the 2020 presidential election, and Trump’s reference to the FBI is likely a reference to those revelations.
The investigation by the Jan. 6 panel, which he has characterized as a partisan witch hunt and a fictitious trial, has received severe criticism from the former president. On January 6, 2021, Trump held a rally near the White House where he made statements encouraging his supporters to march to the Capitol, where Congress was certifying the presidential election results.
A group broke into the Capitol, prompting a violent confrontation with law enforcement, despite Trump’s call for the day’s events to be peaceful.
The occasions of that day have been the subject of inescapable examination and discussion, with Trumps political rivals blaming him for prompting a insurrection. On December 22, the final report of the congressional committee looking into those events was made public. In it, the committee argued that Trump ought to face four criminal charges: conspiracy to defraud the federal government, insurrection, obstructing an official proceeding, making a false statement to the government, and insurrection.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) explains, “Our criminal referrals were based on the gravity of the offense, the centrality of the actors, and the evidence we had available to us.” after the hearing, one of the seven Democrats on the committee told reporters.
It Reinforces Me
Trump excused the criminal references, saying in a post on Truth Social that the panels moves would never really debilitate him.
These people don’t understand why those who support freedom rally around me when they pursue me. It reinforces me. In the statement, Trump wrote, “What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”
He continued, “Americans are aware that I went on television and told everyone to go home and that I advocated for 20,000 troops to prevent violence on January 6.” He also made a comparison between the criminal referrals made by the committee and his second impeachment trial, in which Trump was found not guilty of an insurrection incitement charge in February of last year.
The highly partisan Unselect Committee’s fictitious charges from January 6 have already been filed, prosecuted, and tried as Impeachment Hoax #2. I was victorious. Who needs Double Jeopardy? Trump wrote in a different Truth Social post.
The panels criminal references are not restricting on the Division of Equity and its muddled whether the government organization will follow up on them.
If the agency pursues prosecution and obtains a conviction, Trump could be subject to fines and up to 25 years in prison.
The former president, who recently announced his candidacy for the presidency of the nation in 2024, has stated that the panel’s decision on January 6 to recommend criminal referrals is intended to thwart his attempt to win the White House.
The recent edition of the Elon Musk-endorsed Twitter Files reveals that federal law enforcement agents organizedly targeted social media platforms and news outlets that reported on the Hunter Biden laptop in advance of the 2020 election.
Author Michael Shellenberger, who published screenshots on December 19 that appeared to be of message exchanges between top Twitter officials and the FBI in October 2020, wrote, “We present evidence pointing to an organized effort by representatives of the intelligence community (IC) aimed at senior executives at news and social media companies to discredit leaked information about Hunter Biden before and after it was published.”
In the weeks leading up to the presidential election, Shellenberger shared messages and files that appear to show that the FBI worked to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story and prevent it from being spread via social media.
Shellenberger wrote, “What I quickly put together is a pattern where it appears that FBI agents, along with former FBI agents within the company, were engaged in a disinformation campaign aimed at top executives of Twitter, Facebook, and news organizations to basically prepare them, prime them, and get them set up to dismiss Hunter Biden information when it would be released.”
According to a statement provided to The Epoch Times, the FBI has denied any wrongdoing and stated that it was only providing Twitter with information regarding possible foreign malicious influence. A group of 51 former intelligence officials issued a statement at the time of the Hunter Biden laptop story’s release, claiming that the story had all the hallmarks of a Russian information operation. However, this was later proven to be false.
In an email statement to The Epoch Times, a spokesperson for the FBI stated that the agency regularly collaborates with private sector organizations to provide information specific to identified foreign malign influence actors engaged in subversive, undeclared, covert, or criminal activities.
It has nothing to do with any particular message or story. Confidential area elements autonomously arrive at conclusions about what, if any, move they initiate on their foundation and for their clients after the FBI has told them.
